The electric scooter and bicycle rental season has started in Ukraine. LIGA.Tech has analyzed the offers of six e-scooter rental services in Kyiv.

The scooter that was ahead of time and the police
The first electric scooter appeared in 1915. Autoped launched the sale of motorized scooters in New York. They weighed about 60 kg, were noisy, but quite economical – less than 2 liters per 100 km.Autoped cost $100, while a Ford Model T cost $400, and the average annual salary was less than $700. The scooter was positioned as a toy for the rich: advertisements featured wealthy and stylish citizens. Among them was the famous pilot Amelia Earhart, who was repeatedly photographed on an autoped.

However, the real potential of the invention was appreciated by youth gangs. They used autopeds as a means of escaping from crime scenes in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, leaving the police behind. High-tech transportation has become a symbol not only of progress, but also of crime and hooliganism.
