"Easier for the military". How does French Alta Ares strengthen Ukrainian air defense with AI? Interview with CEO
"I never thought that in the shoes I wore to meet Macron and Zelenskyy in France, I would be running around potato fields in Ukraine," laughs the elegantly dressed, sleep-deprived Frenchman Adrien Canter, pointing at those very shoes (washed). The night before his interview with LIGA.net, he returned to Kyiv from the Kharkiv region, where he had met with the military. They are using drone interceptors with software developed by Alta Ares, a company founded by Canter and his partners.
Alta Ares began developing AI software for Ukrainian air defense two years ago; in July 2025, it registered an office in Ukraine, and in early November, interceptors equipped with the Pixel Lock AI program shot down the first shaheds in Ukraine.
Why did the French lawyer decide to set up a miltech company, how does it work, and what are his plans for 2026? Adrien Canter tells us in his first interview in Ukraine.
