Microsoft has begun requiring employees to make more active use of its artificial intelligence tools – and is already considering adding this criterion to official annual evaluations. This was reported by Business Insider.

Julia Luceon, President of the Developer Division, who is responsible for services for developers such as GitHub Copilot, wrote to managers that "AI is no longer an option, but a mandatory part of the job." In her opinion, the use of AI should be evaluated alongside team collaboration and analytical thinking .

These changes are aimed at encouraging employees to use services like GitHub Copilot, an AI-powered tool for writing code. According to Barclays, Copilot is now facing growing competition, particularly from Cursor, which recently overtook Copilot in some segments of the developer market.

Microsoft allows employees to use third-party services that meet security requirements, such as the popular coding assistant Replit.

  • Recently, Microsoft overtook Nvidia and Apple in terms of market capitalization and became the most valuable company in the world.
  • Microsoft shares rose 0.8% to $467.68 each, which was a record for the company for the first time in the last 11 months.
  • Microsoft also offers European governments a free program to protect them from cyberattacks.
