OpenAI introduced the GPT-5.2 language model - what's new

OpenAI released gPT-5.2 model, which is available in ChatGPT for users with a paid subscription. It can work with tables, presentations, code, images, long texts, and tools. ChatGPT has three model options: Instant, Thinking, and Pro.

Implementation has already begun for users with paid subscriptions. The model has received improvements in the processing of visual content (graphs, screenshots), as well as in the ability to work with long contexts of up to 256,000 tokens.

At ChatGPT, the model is available for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. In the API, GPT-5.2 versions cost from $1.75 to $21 per million incoming tokens. GPT-5.1 will remain available for three months.

The model was introduced after the release of Google's Gemini 3 Pro, which topped the LMArena rating. An internal letter from OpenAI stated that the goal of GPT-5.2 was to reach the level of the competitor. Previously, GPT-5.1 was ranked sixth in the LMArena rating, behind Google, Anthropic, and xAI.
