Ukraine is creating a national LLM. Why does the state need a language model and what does business think about it?

A large language model is the basis of many AI products, including chatbots like GPT. Ukraine is developing its own LLM, which will better understand our context and language, and thus work better with Ukrainian users.

How the language model works

The Ministry of Digital Transformation announced the development of a Ukrainian LLM in February 2025. The ministry claims that with the national language model, businesses will be able to launch AI tools cheaper and faster.
