Why did Y Combinator allow Ukrainian startups to participate remotely – a partner was asked
YC is open to purely miltech startups, not just dual-use technologies

The American accelerator Y Combinator will make an exception and allow Ukrainian companies to participate in the winter program remotely. The original announcement stated that the training would be held in person in San Francisco.
Airbnb, Twitch, Gitlab, Dropbox, and other well-known startups have gone through YC. And in addition to training, the accelerator invests $500,000 in each company that is selected.
LIGA.net asked YC partner Jared Friedman why an exception was made for Ukrainians, whether miltech companies are hiring and in what areas they see potential.
