The Wikimedia Foundation has recorded a decline in Wikipedia page views by about 8% compared to last year. This is reported by on the official website of the Wikimedia Foundation.

After updating the bot detection system, it turned out that part of the traffic was generated by automated programs that imitated the actions of users, in particular from Brazil.

Analysts at the Wikimedia Foundation attribute the decline to the fact that more and more people are getting answers directly from chatbots and search engines with built-in AI, rather than going to the site itself. Younger audiences are also more likely to search for information in video format on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

The Wikimedia Foundation is working to ensure that technology companies use Wikipedia materials correctly and attribute them. The team is testing new formats to make Wikipedia knowledge more accessible on YouTube, TikTok, Roblox, and Instagram .
