Ukraine's intel explains rationale behind cyber attacks on Russian Defense Ministry

Ukraine continues the cyber attack on the servers of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andriy Chernyak, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, told public broadcaster Suspilne, explained the purpose of the attack.

"The cyber attack continues. We are currently capturing the information we need in order to later analyze it and transfer it to the units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine for further damage to the targets specified in the documents on these servers," said Chernyak.

According to him, attacks in Russian cyberspace will continue in the future. The military intel representative called such servers and networks legitimate targets for Ukrainian cyber specialists and the Security and Defense Forces.

As a result of a cyberattack on Wednesday, the server of the Russian Ministry of Defense was hacked and the operation of special communication between units of the Russian army was stopped.
