"Started with $30,000" How the Production of Bionic Prostheses is Organized: Explained by the CEO of Allbionics

"I can do it myself," – says Dmytro, pressing the door handle with his plastic-metal hand. Though not immediately, the door gives way, and the soldier enters the office of Allbionics, the company that replaced his arm lost at the front with a bionic prosthesis.
"No matter how perfect a prosthetic is, it will never replace a real hand. But at least you can carry bags from the store," – shares Dmytro. In his opinion, the prosthetic could be improved by adding a compartment for batteries, which you can take with you in unlimited quantities and change instantly when needed. "A charge from an outlet lasts only two days, and there's not always the opportunity to do it on time, especially in field conditions," he explains.
Since its founding in 2023, Allbionics has fitted prosthetic arms to 19 military personnel and four civilians at a total cost of about $180,000, with plans to fit three more by the end of the year. How is this production organized, what challenges does the company face, and what innovations are they working on? LIGA.net visited the enterprise in Chernivtsi and spoke with Nika Kudrytska, who headed the company in 2024.
